About The Author

Joyce Graham

Joyce Graham was born and raised in the charming city of Savannah, Georgia, where her lifelong love for animals first began. After graduating from high school, she moved to Atlanta, Georgia, where she built a successful 25-year career in the jewelry industry. During that time, she earned her Graduate Gemologist designation from the Gemological Institute of America, managing jewelry stores, appraising fine diamonds, and even designing custom pieces that reflected her creative spirit and attention to detail.

But after decades surrounded by jewels, Joyce realized that her true treasures were the living, breathing companions she had always adored, her pets. Following an early retirement, she returned home to Savannah and turned her passion into purpose by opening the city’s first professional pet-sitting business. With a small team, she cared for the beloved pets of many well-known clients, earning a reputation built on trust, compassion, and genuine love for animals.

When her mother became ill with Alzheimer’s, Joyce chose to step away from her thriving business to care for her family, a decision that reflected the same devotion she showed her pets. Later, she began a new chapter, breeding Yorkshire Terriers with the same dedication she brought to everything in life. Her meticulous research and hands-on experience led to a successful and respected breeding program, focused on producing healthy, happy dogs from champion lines.

Over the years, Joyce has learned that pet ownership is about more than companionship, it’s about commitment, learning, and unconditional love. Her experiences, from first-time mistakes to professional expertise, inspired her to write “Everything They Didn’t Tell Me About Owning a Pet”. Through this book, she hopes to share her hard-earned wisdom with others, helping both new and seasoned pet owners create safer, happier lives for the animals they love most.
